This course is intended to train individuals who are new to the track and whose work may involve the maintenance, inspection or renewal of the track or other duties that may affect the stability, position or integrity of the track infrastructure. The aim is to provide the basic underpinning knowledge of permanent way construction, components and working methods associated with maintenance, renewal, repair, adjustment and dismantling of permanent way assets

  • Must be a minimum age of 16 
  • Individual must have a valid Sentinel profile & valid sponsor who has authorised the training. 
  • Must bring Sentinel smart card endorsed with PTS. 
  • Meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Competence Specific Fitness Medical Requirements to minimum medical level 4 and NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol). 
  • Must have sufficient command of English language as detailed in Network Rail Company Specification NR/S/CTM/021 (Competence & Training in Track Safety). 
  • It is the responsibility of the individual trainee’s manager to decide upon their suitability to attend the course in accordance with the current issue of NR/L2/CTM/021 Competence & Training in Track Safety.  
  • The Track Induction declaration has been developed in line with the training material from Network Rail. The course requires the first module of the Track Induction which is the company induction to be complete. As the candidates are not primary sponsored by us, they will need to have their inductions with the sponsors they are registered with. The declaration allows us to confirm they have had their company inductions which is a mandatory unit to obtain Tr00 Track Induction competence. 
  • Must have a mandatory 12 twelve (12) hour rest period before the course as per the rules on Working Time Regulations (1998) and Network Rail Standards NR/L2/OHS/003.

Results for the Track Induction Course will be uploaded onto your Sentinel card/profile within 24 hours of successful completion. Should there be any complication in uploading the competence, we will endeavour to resolve the matter within 5 working days.
